The picture above was taken today...the view of our hill on the farm. 1st November is also Samhain and many people observe the sacred time of Samhain. Samhain is a festival of the Dead. Meaning "Summer's End" and pronounced saah-win or saa-ween, Samhain is a celebration of the end of the harvest and the start of the coldest half of the year. It is also the beginning of the spiritual new year.
Here are a few ways to celebrate Samhain. Samhain Nature Walk. Take a meditative walk in a natural area near your home. Observe and contemplate the colors, aromas, sounds, and other sensations of the season. Experience yourself as part of the Circle of Life and reflect on death and rebirth as being an important part of Nature. If the location you visit permits, gather some natural objects and upon your return use them to adorn your home. Reflections. Reflect on you and your life over the past year. Review journals, planners, photographs, blogs, and other notations you have created during the past year. Consider how you have grown, accomplishments, challenges, adventures, travels, and learnings. Meditate. Journal about your year in review, your meditation, and your reflections. Renovate. Select an area of your home or life as a focus. Examine it. Re-organize it. Or it's all about you?! Do you find you give out so much of you to others, whether it's in relationships, at work or friends in need and not give ourselves 'ME TIME'?! It is good to give to others but it is so important too to have ME Time and to allow yourself to have ME Time. Otherwise too much giving and not enough receiving can make us unhappy, depleted and ill. So take a rain check now, on how your energy is & ask yourself how are you feeling right now, are you happy, do I have enough ME Time? My 3rd visit there and I just love it. Time for me. Time to be, simply wonderful. Stunning views sweeping across the valley to a beautiful turquoise lake and mountains behind us. Birds singing early morning and mountain goats with their bells on in the distance. Peace and quiet, a chance to switch off all thoughts and just be. A digital detox - no tv, radio, books, phones, newspapers. Excellent healthy raw food & juices lovingly prepared each day. Learnt different styles of yoga, meditation and a treat of a gong bath and Thai Massage workshop, plus time to sunbath, walk, swim. Simply divine. Time to swim in the sea and time to just be. We saw beautiful sunsets, wonderful views and drank it all in. We enjoyed every moment. What we didn't have was signal for our phones or wifi and I didn't miss it one bit, as it gave me the chance to simply enjoy life, take in the scenery, listen to what people had to say, make conversation, taste the food and enjoy every single bit! I now feel relaxed and refreshed - bliss!!
